Why I Wrote Management by Design

December 17, 2010

I have never worked at a company that really thought about its workplace experience, nor one that encouraged it managers to do so. We praise design in everything else, but the places where we spend our days, we leave under designed.

Management by Design was written to address this issue. It outlines a methodology that I created over a three year period. The methodology guides the design of workplace experiences using ideas like balance, rhythm and motion, flexibility, simplicity, forgiveness, perceptibility and others.

If you are interested in creating a better workplace experience for yourself, I encourage you to read the book. If you are responsible for retention, motivation or performance, then this book may help you rethink your approach.
